Phedor Vaporizer Review

The handheld Phedor Vaporizer is one of our top-selling models. We think this is likely due to the fact that it is highly portable. Its competition is somewhat lacking: the VaporGenie is not a true, electronic vaporizer and the Oxygen O2 Mini handheld has some design issues i.e. a tiny filling chamber. Read more about the Phedor in our most recent Staff Review.

There is clearly a lot demand for a good, portable vaporizer, but the technology is still catching up. The three handheld models we carry all approach vaporization differently. The Oxygen Mini is the only true, electronic vaporizer, but it’s still hard to scale all the components down. The VaporGenie mixes hot air from a lighter with cooler air. And the Phedor is a lot more like a lighter than a vaporizer. We’re interested to see how this area develops. Hopefully, good portable vaporizers will be available in the not-too-distant-future!

Get Your VapeNow Stickers!

Exciting news! Over the past month we have been designing our brand new stickers. We received them early this week and have to say that we are very pleased with the results (the big margins are for printing and trimming purposes):

Sticker #1:

Sticker#2:

If anyone would like a free sticker or two, just send us your mailing address. We’ll send some stickers to you free of charge. We hope you all like the designs and would be happy to hear any suggestions/comments.

In vaporizer related news, there are a couple new developments you may be interested in.

  1. We are now carrying the Aromed 4.0. Like the Volcano, this herbal vaporizer is manufactured in Germany, hopefully the Aromed will prove to be as effective We’ve been testing it out and will post a full review soon. It’s cheaper than the Volcano at only $440 and uses a halogen bulb to heat the vaporizable material, which is pretty cool. It actually looks like a high tech, digital reading lamp instead of a vaporizer. The Aromed is availble in Euro or US plugs.
  2. We continue to wait for our first shipment of Vapezilla Classics. Hopefully they will arrive in time for Christmas!

We hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving and didn’t eat too much turkey.

Happy Holidays!

The VaporTower Take 2

At first we were not very pleased with the VaporTower. However, after refining our inhalation technique we were able to get very nice results. Try setting the dial at about 1 o’clock and taking long slow inhales interspersed with shorter puffs. We have posted a full Staff Review on our site for those of you interested in the details. Our basic conclusion is that the VaporTower is a nice direct inhale vaporizer, perhaps the best on the market. It’s main competition seems to be the Vapor Cannon 3G. We also have more pictures of the VaporTower.

The VaporTower was created by vaportower.com.

Update on Super & Classic Vapezilla

Unfortunately we continue to be sold out of Super and Classic Vapezilla Vaporizers:

We received an email from Wicked Roots (the company that manufactures the Phedor, the Classic Vapezilla, and the Super Vapezilla Vaporizer models) yesterday saying that they were having supply problems due to the secondary CA Wildfires that are in the vicinity of their facilities. Our best wishes our with them.

We have plenty of Phedors in stock, but we don’t have any Super or Classic Vapezillas. Distribution is supposed to resume in December and we’re hoping to get Classic Vapezillas in stock for Christmas. The availability of the Super Vapezilla is less certain, which is unfortunate because it is their best vaporizer of the three they make. We will keep you posted with updates.

HerbalAire Vaporizer Review

This post is a brief review of the HerbalAire Vaporizer. You can also read our full Staff Review of the HerbalAire.

The HerbalAire is one of the top 5 vaporizers on the market right now. It compares favorably to the S&B; Volcano, which is collectively recognized as the “best” vaporizer. Th HerbalAire generates vapor of similar density with the same efficiency of a Volcano. It’s also smaller, and more portable. You can use the HerbalAire without the air pump for direct inhale.

Best of all, at $250 the HerbalAire is substantially less expensive than the Volcano. The HerbalAire is not without it’s flaws, however. The air pump is downright horrible: bags can take 3-5 minutes to fill (30 seconds for the Volcano). The balloon is not a great design either, we made our own because the ones that come with the model are just too small. Additionally, you can’t close the balloon’s opening and vapor always gets out. Hopefully these problems will be fixed in the future. As is, the HerbalAire is just a “good model,” not a “great one,” but still perhaps the best option if a Volcano is too expensive.

VaporTower Hands Free Vaporizer

This video features the VaporTower Hands Free Vaporizer (Again, T. Peters with the hands). The VaporTower is another direct inhale model, a lot like the VaporCannon or Vapor Brothers models, but vertical.

Our initial review of the VaporTower is not that good. The VaporTower did produce some nice vapor, but only for 2 or 3 inhales. Like the VaporCannon, one must wait in between inhales for the coil to reheat, but the heating element must not be as precise in the VaporTower because we had better inhales with the VaporCannon. Refilling the VaporTower is also tedious, as it involves unscrewing and re-screwing the hot glass filling chamber. Overall, we don’t think the VaporTower is your best option if you are looking for a direct inhale model. We recommend the VaporCannon 3G, which is also $40 cheaper. We will post a full review of the VaporTower on our site very soon. -VN

VaporCannon Hands Free Vaporizer – 3G

Another new video for your viewing pleasure. The featured model is the VaporCannon 3G Vaporizer, using the hands free whip. The VaporCannon is also available with a standard whip for $20 less. Many thanks again to T. Peters and his hands.

We will also be posting a review of the Vapor Cannon 3G on our site shortly. Until then, let us say that we think the Vapor Cannon is one of the best direct inhale models currently on the market. It is cheap compared to most vaporizers and pretty easy to use. The only major inconvenience is that you have to wait for the unit to heat up between inhales. Overall though, the VaporCannon is a very solid vaporizer. -VN

Vapormatic Deluxe Vaporizer Video

We’ll be posting a full review of the Vapormatic Deluxe by Vapir soon, but in the meantime check out our new Vapormatic Video (many thanks to our guest hand model, T. Peters).

Our initial reaction is that the Vapormatic is not one of the best vaporizers out there right now, largely because their bag system does not match up well against the Volcano balloon system. Vapir manufacturers other vaporizers, namely the Vapir ONE v5.0 and the Oxygen O2 Handheld Mini, that preform much more satisfactorily in our opinion. The ONE model received a face lift in 2007 (better fan and heating element). The new 2007 version is called the ONE v5.0 (last version was v4.0). The Oxygen Mini is a nice portable model that is only slightly bigger than a pen.

Please feel free to leave any comments on, suggestions for, or questions about the video and/or the Vapormatic Deluxe. Hopefully this brief review has been informative. As always, thanks for reading. -VN

The Vapir ONE, VooDoo, Green Vapors Love Triangle

Vaporizer enthusiasts have probably noticed that the Vapir ONE v.5.0 and the VooDoo by Pyro Products are virtually identical models. They have recently been joined by a third model, Green Vapors, also by Pyro Products that is very similar. When I opened our first shipment of Green Vapors a couple days ago, I noticed they even said ‘Vapir ONE’ on them.

We’ve been wondering about this relationship for awhile — specifically does Pyro simply rebrand Vapir models — so we contacted Pyro this morning and asked for an explanation. This is the response we received:

“The Green Vapors do have the Vapir name on them. Vapir holds the patent for this type of technology so we have to have them manufacture the VooDoo, Mystifire, and Green Vapors vaporizers. The VooDoo is essentially the same vaporizer as the Vapir One, too. However, we require different specs for our vaporizers when we order a batch from Vapir. The fan must be the best available, same with the heating element, etc. We don’t allow them to use inferior components in our vaporizers to reduce costs. The Green Vapors have our specs so you are guaranteed to have the best available components. The Green Vapors were manufactured after our last batch of VooDoos, when a better fan became available, so the fan in these is upgraded from our last batch of VooDoos. The warranties are absolutely guaranteed by Pyro Products. We stand behind all of our products and, as usual, we ensure that you will receive the best customer service possible.”

We followed up by asking about the specs they use at Pyro, response below:

“In the past, our specs were higher than the ones that Vapir used for their own vaporizers. I believe that they had a lot of problems with the earlier versions of the Vapir One, and at some point they upgraded to match our specs. I can’t tell you for sure what their specs are, as that information isn’t available to us, but I can tell you that we require the best parts available so that our vaporizers are the highest possible quality. I’m not sure whether Vapir does that or not.

With the VooDoos, we get less than half of one percent returned to us with warranty issues. Since we’ve been selling the Green Vapors, I haven’t heard of even one unit malfunctioning. We’ve sold hundreds at this point, and they’ve been doing very well.”

And we also inquired about why they don’t enclose any material with the Green Vapors vaporizer because it is a little confusing, response below:

“We don’t enclose any material to explain why they say Vapir. If anyone asks, I tell them exactly what I told you – Vapir manufacturers our vaporizers, they have always been Vapir-manufactured, and our warranties and customer service fully back our products. We will always ensure that our products are of the best possible quality, and we will always do whatever we can to keep our customers happy.”

The responses to our questions cleared things up a lot and confirmed our thinking that Vapir actually manufactures all of these models. They only differ in the specs to which they are fabricated. So, in review, here is how these three very similar vaporizers — the Vapir ONE, the Green Vapors, and the VooDoo — stack up:

So what does this tell us? Upon review, which is the best vaporizer on paper? Since the VooDoo is temporarily discontinued (I believe it will be manufactured again at some point in time, but I can’t get any definite info) we can narrow our consideration down to the Vapir ONE 5.0 and the Green Vapors. On paper, the Green Vapors looks like the better vaporizer. It is cheaper and it comes with more free accessories. We will be testing out the other side of this comparison by trying out the actual units soon and of course we will post the reviews of all the models. Thanks for reading and please post any questions.

Potential Volcano Shortage

Just wanted to pass this info along to the community. We just got off the phone with Storz & Bickel and it looks like there are some supply issues with getting Volcanoes to the US right now. We do have some of both the Volcano Classic and Volcano Digit in inventory and we’re hoping that they resolve this issue as soon as possible – we should have an update on the situation early next week. Hopefully there will not be a Volcano shortage, but here are a few Volcano alternatives in case the issue persists:

HerbalAire — the best alternative to the Volcano that we’ve found to date. Added bonus: it’s less than half the price of a Volcano Classic.

VaporTower — we haven’t had a chance to try this one (yet!), but we’ve heard good things.

Vapir ONE 5.0 — this unit is growing on us. While it takes some getting used to, it is a fairly effective digital vaporizer that we would recommend.

We will keep you updated on the Volcano supply issue, don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions or desired content.
