The Vapir ONE, VooDoo, Green Vapors Love Triangle

Vaporizer enthusiasts have probably noticed that the Vapir ONE v.5.0 and the VooDoo by Pyro Products are virtually identical models. They have recently been joined by a third model, Green Vapors, also by Pyro Products that is very similar. When I opened our first shipment of Green Vapors a couple days ago, I noticed they even said ‘Vapir ONE’ on them.

We’ve been wondering about this relationship for awhile — specifically does Pyro simply rebrand Vapir models — so we contacted Pyro this morning and asked for an explanation. This is the response we received:

“The Green Vapors do have the Vapir name on them. Vapir holds the patent for this type of technology so we have to have them manufacture the VooDoo, Mystifire, and Green Vapors vaporizers. The VooDoo is essentially the same vaporizer as the Vapir One, too. However, we require different specs for our vaporizers when we order a batch from Vapir. The fan must be the best available, same with the heating element, etc. We don’t allow them to use inferior components in our vaporizers to reduce costs. The Green Vapors have our specs so you are guaranteed to have the best available components. The Green Vapors were manufactured after our last batch of VooDoos, when a better fan became available, so the fan in these is upgraded from our last batch of VooDoos. The warranties are absolutely guaranteed by Pyro Products. We stand behind all of our products and, as usual, we ensure that you will receive the best customer service possible.”

We followed up by asking about the specs they use at Pyro, response below:

“In the past, our specs were higher than the ones that Vapir used for their own vaporizers. I believe that they had a lot of problems with the earlier versions of the Vapir One, and at some point they upgraded to match our specs. I can’t tell you for sure what their specs are, as that information isn’t available to us, but I can tell you that we require the best parts available so that our vaporizers are the highest possible quality. I’m not sure whether Vapir does that or not.

With the VooDoos, we get less than half of one percent returned to us with warranty issues. Since we’ve been selling the Green Vapors, I haven’t heard of even one unit malfunctioning. We’ve sold hundreds at this point, and they’ve been doing very well.”

And we also inquired about why they don’t enclose any material with the Green Vapors vaporizer because it is a little confusing, response below:

“We don’t enclose any material to explain why they say Vapir. If anyone asks, I tell them exactly what I told you – Vapir manufacturers our vaporizers, they have always been Vapir-manufactured, and our warranties and customer service fully back our products. We will always ensure that our products are of the best possible quality, and we will always do whatever we can to keep our customers happy.”

The responses to our questions cleared things up a lot and confirmed our thinking that Vapir actually manufactures all of these models. They only differ in the specs to which they are fabricated. So, in review, here is how these three very similar vaporizers — the Vapir ONE, the Green Vapors, and the VooDoo — stack up:

So what does this tell us? Upon review, which is the best vaporizer on paper? Since the VooDoo is temporarily discontinued (I believe it will be manufactured again at some point in time, but I can’t get any definite info) we can narrow our consideration down to the Vapir ONE 5.0 and the Green Vapors. On paper, the Green Vapors looks like the better vaporizer. It is cheaper and it comes with more free accessories. We will be testing out the other side of this comparison by trying out the actual units soon and of course we will post the reviews of all the models. Thanks for reading and please post any questions.

Potential Volcano Shortage

Just wanted to pass this info along to the community. We just got off the phone with Storz & Bickel and it looks like there are some supply issues with getting Volcanoes to the US right now. We do have some of both the Volcano Classic and Volcano Digit in inventory and we’re hoping that they resolve this issue as soon as possible – we should have an update on the situation early next week. Hopefully there will not be a Volcano shortage, but here are a few Volcano alternatives in case the issue persists:

HerbalAire — the best alternative to the Volcano that we’ve found to date. Added bonus: it’s less than half the price of a Volcano Classic.

VaporTower — we haven’t had a chance to try this one (yet!), but we’ve heard good things.

Vapir ONE 5.0 — this unit is growing on us. While it takes some getting used to, it is a fairly effective digital vaporizer that we would recommend.

We will keep you updated on the Volcano supply issue, don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions or desired content.

Volcano Digit Easy Valve

I’m crazy about the new Easy Valve that was released by Storz & Bickel in conjunction with the Volcano Digit (it can be used with both the Volcano Classic and the Volcano Digit) and I’m going to tell you why:

Reason One: Simplicity
The Easy Valve system has the same basic components as the Solid Valve system: a filling chamber, a mouthpiece, and a valve/balloon. However, the components for the Easy Valve are lighter and much better designed. There are no metal parts in the Easy Valve. Furthermore, if you want to take the Easy Valve apart it breaks down into 5 pieces (if you count the bag) while the Solid is upwards of 6. The Easy Valve mouthpiece is especially satisfying to use and sliding the valve/balloon onto the filling chamber is much easier as well.

Reason Two: Efficiency
Ever see vapor escape out the sides of your Solid Valve when running your Volcano? Ever try to stop it? It’s impossible! All that wasted vapor. Solid Valve filling can be a pain. The Easy Valve avoids this problem as it doesn’t have slits in the side of the valve. You get all your vapor as the Volcano runs. We’ve noticed that we tend to get 1-2 more balloons of any given material with the Easy Valve. Don’t waste that vapor!

Reason Three: Recyclability
One of the initial things we didn’t like about the Easy Valve was that you just throw it away. But we have figured out a cool way to recycle your Easy Valve. Click on the link to see a step-by-step photo tutorial. This technique allows you to simply switch out old Volcano Easy Valve bags and put new ones in using the roll as you do for the Solid Valve system. An added bonus of this is you can create custom sized (up to 9.8 ft!) easy valve bags. That’s a lot of vapor

The bottom line is that is just better in about every way. I wasn’t sold on the idea before I used it, but after the first touch to my lips I fell in love with it. Great design S&B;!

If you are looking for more info about the Volcano Easy Valve system, check out our Volcano Digit Review. Even though it’s mainly about the Volcano Digit, it has some additional information about the Easy Valve.

HerbalAire Vaporizer Tutorial

I hope you’ve been enjoying our most recent video – the Heat Up Race between the Classic and the Digit. Today, we’re going to change gears a little bit and talk about the herbalAire Vaporizer (for some reason the ‘h’ is deliberately uncapitalized). Some people also mispell it ‘herbal aire’ as well — we see a fair amount of searches for ‘herbal aire reviews.’ Anyway, I digress. Although this post is not going to be a formal herbalAire review, it will touch on a couple cool tips and bits of information that other herbalAire reviews seem to have overlooked.

We have posted a herbalAire Tutorial on our site. Directions and pictures walk you step-by-step through set up and running the herbalAire. If the response to this tutorial is good, we’ll be making some for other models. Let us know!

Good news for those of you who live outside the states: the herbalAire now comes in 240v Australian and Euro models. Just make sure you specify that your want the herbalAire Australian or herbalAire Euro during checkout.

And finally, a reward for reading this whole post: a herbalAire coupon for $10 off at our Vaporizer Store. Simply add a herbalAire to your shopping cart and use coupon code 10HAIRE during checkout.

Handheld Vaporizers

Some of our most popular models are the handheld vaporizers. It’s pretty clear to us that people value the portability of such models — I sure do. However, there is a big difference between a portable vaporizer that needs to be plugged in and one that does not. Having to plug in a portable vaporizer severely restricts where you can use it. There are adapters available for car use, but if you are more than 10 feet away from an outlet then you are pretty much out of luck (unless of course you are the type to haul a gas generator around with you).

Unfortunately, there are very few true cordless vaporizers currently on the market. Vapir manufactures two cordless models. One simply goes by the name Vapir Cordless. This is an older model and Vapir hasn’t had them in stock for awhile, I’m not sure if they are even still being produced.

The other Vapir model is the Oxygen mini-vaporizer. It lives up to its name: it’s about the same size as a stapler and is available with an optional rechargeable battery. This is our most popular handheld vape — customers tell me they like its price, its digital display (a mini digital vaporizer for under $100 is a great deal), and, you guessed it, the fact they can take it anywhere. I’ve included a testimonial from one of our customers at the bottom of this post.

The 3rd and final handheld vape on the market is the Vaporgenie. Unlike most vaporizers, it uses an open flame to create heat. The flame is modulated through a special ceramic filter to mix it with air. It may not be as clean as an electric vape, but you sure can take it anywhere as long as you have a butane lighter.

Hopefully people will find some helpful info in here. ‘Til next time, -VN
